Knight of Radiant Sun

General Information

The Knight of Radiant Sun (Radiant for short) is one of the highest ranking royal guards, and is the personal guard of Prince Mateo. Following the Knight's code rather strictly, nobody has ever seen his face or heard his voice. Despite his lack of vocal communication, a hidden personality that can only be described as "annoyed older brother" seems to come out through slight physical expression. He takes his duties very seriously, willing and ready to perform any task at hand to keep his prince safe.

Story

Nothing is known about Radiant's childhood.

At the age of 12, Radiant enlisted himself into the Knight training program at the palace in Stella Solis. Quickly rising through the ranks due to his seemingly unnatural combat abilities, he became a city guard at age 15. Once he turned 18, he participated in the knight's tournament during the festial of the sun. Making it to the semi-finals, he lost to the current royal guard captian, The Knight of Eternal Sun. Despite his loss, the fight had him recognized by the captain and by the king.
King Solis would have Radiant promoted to be a royal guard, and would later have him take on the eclipse trials to prove his skill. Passing the trials with flying colors, Radiant would officially recieve his promotion and title of Royal Knight of the Radiant Sun.
Shortly after reciving his title, Radiant would be entrusted with the duty of being the personal guard of the Prince of the Sun, Mateo Flores.

Relationships

Mateo Flores

What isn't there to say about Mateo? Bound by duty and love, Radiant is extremely loyal to Mateo, and will do anything he can to make sure the young prince is okay. While his required duties only entail protection from harm, Radiant often finds himself going out of his way to make sure Mateo has a smile on his face. Though Radiant would never admit it, he has strong feelings for the prince. This often makes his job a bit painful, as he always sees someone he wishes he could be with, but knows he can't. To him, though, this is no matter, and is just another reason to keep Mateo safe.

King Solis

To Radiant, King Solis is a brilliant man and an excellent king. No man is perfect, and this, of course, includes the king, but Radiant can see the clear care the king has for his people. He wonders how the king sees him, but from what he can tell, he's thought of highly. He's glad such a kind man entrusts him with the protection of someone like Mateo.

Knight of Shining Stars

To most, Starshine is just a knight with a bit of spunk to her. To Radiant? She is the world's worst role model. Her general lack of respect for her title and strong attitude is something Radiant refuses to tolerate or adjust to. Despite this, he recognizes her impressive combat abilities and experience, as she is most certainly a force to be reckoned with. On some rare occasions though, Radiant and Starshine take on an almost sibling-like relationship, as Starshine becomes a voice of advice and reason. These times are few and far inbetween.

Lady Nebula

As a follower of The Natural Order, Radiant often prays to Lady Nebula, asking for two simple things: for Mateo to be safe, and to be forgiven for events long gone. He's never recieved any direct response or contact with the goddess, at least as far as he can remember, but this doesn't shake his faith. What does, however, is his own questioning of fate. How this affects his relationship with Lady Nebula is unbeknownst to him.
